Is your beer tart, funky, or just a little wild? So is ours. For eight years, the Société du Lambic has celebrated the Belgian tradition of lambic and the broader world of wild and sour fermentation. Now in its 8th year, our competition is open to all amateur homebrewers who want to showcase beers that push the boundaries of fermentation. What started as an internal club competition has grown into a BJCP-sanctioned event welcoming entrants from across the country.

Entries will be judged using the 2021 BJCP Beer Style Guidelines. Eligible categories include Category 23 A–G (European Sour Beer), Category 28 A–D (American Wild Ale), Category X4 (Catharina Sour), and Category 34 B–C (Mixed Style and Experimental) for qualifying wild and sour beers. Each entrant may submit up to one entry per subcategory. The competition administrators reserve the right to combine categories based on the number of entries received. Not sure where your beer fits? Specialty wild and sour beers with fruit, wood, smoke, or spice that don’t have a dedicated category are generally best entered as Wild Specialty Beer (Category 28C).

The first 50 paid registrations receive a 25% discount from the standard entry fee of $12. Register early — last year the discount was gone before judging day.

The Award Ceremony will take place during the October meeting of the Society of Barley Engineers on October 7, 2026 at 6:30 PM PST.  The meeting will also be broadcast live via Zoom.

Please join us in celebration of wild and sour beers.
