August Meeting – Base Malts

The August meeting of the Society of Barley Engineers will be held on Wednesday, August 1st @ 6pm at Booze Brothers Brewery in Vista. Our main presentation will be on Base Malts which will be presented by Mike Jocelyn. We’ll be discussing a variety of malts that you use as the main malt in your grist and will have some examples brewed with them.

On the agenda:
1) Social time & small pour sharing
2) Homebrew sharing and discussion
3) Booze Brothers Appreciation Night (August 8)
4) Stone Anniversary Celebration (August 18)
5) San Diego Cross Club Picnic (August 25)
6) Base Malts with Mike Jocelyn
7) Post-presentation social time

Booze Bros Appreciation Party & ALNC Benefit

Hi Everyone!

You are invited to the 2018 Booze Brothers Appreciation Party hosted by our very own club, Society of Barley Engineers. The beer being served will be that which was created from the Big Brew back in June! Can’t wait to see all the different creations that club members came up with and all the reactions from visitors and charity supporters. This is sure to be a great event.

If you have not already done so, please fill out the RSVP as soon as possible so that we can plan. For those who are able to contribute materials outside of food and beer, please check the RSVP as we still need the following:

  • Tables
  • Games (i.e., cornhole, dominoes, etc.)
  • Power Strips for multiple hot pots
  • Jockey Boxes
  • CO2 Tanks

The Barley Engineers will once again be volunteering to make and serve sodas at Stone’s 22nd Anniversary Beer Fest. We’ll need members to make sodas and help serve on Saturday, August 18th. Servers will receive a pass to the opposite session’s fest and jockey box donors will receive an extra special reward!

Please use this form to register your sodas and RSVP for the event.

Stone will reimburse us for all the ingredients, so be sure to keep your receipts!

The July meeting of the Society of Barley Engineers will be held on Wednesday, July 11th @ 6pm at Booze Brothers Brewery in Vista. Our main presentation will be on Belgian Ales which will be presented by special guest speaker, “Dr.” Bill Sysak. We’re excited to have one of the world’s most knowledgeable experts on craft beer to lead this presentation which will include a variety of Belgian Ale samples. You will not want to miss this meeting!
