John McKay put together a great presentation about aging and blending beers. We had special surprise guests Doug Constantiner and Travis Smith from Societe Brewing on hand to discuss their experiences with aging and blending while working at Russian River and The Bruery. We learned about when, why and how to aging and blend beers, both on homebrew and commercial scales.
Commercial samples included:
Nebraska Brewing Chardonnay Barrel Aged Hop God
HaandBryggeriet Akavitt Porter
Mikkeller Tequila Barrel Black Hole
Hanssen’s Oude Kriek
Drie Fonteinen Oude Geuze
