Event: SBE Target Shooting Night

We are putting together a Society of Barley Engineers shooting night event. It will be on Tues 10/6 starting at 6pm. We will gather at Iron Sights shooting range in Oceanside for some target shooting. This is a great opportunity to do some target shooting in a safe environment with fellow club members. Afterwards, we will head over to Tap That for some beers. If you have a Tap That pint glass bring it in for $1 off pints on Tuesdays.

Anyone with their own gun(s) is welcome to bring them. People who do not have guns may rent them at the range (typically $6). Range fees should be around $10-14 per person. For ammo, you may bring your own approved ammo, purchase ammo at the range, or participate in a group buy for discounted ammo (about 1/2 of range price). Ammo cost will depend on how much you shoot. If you bring your own ammo, it cannot contain steel or be “Wolf” brand ammo, they will check it with a magnet. Ear and eye protection are provided free of charge. Paper targets may be brought from home or purchased at the range for a small fee.

SBE May Pub Night – Irina’s

Our first pub night of 2015 will be Wednesday, May 13th, at Irina’s Bar and Grill in Oceanside. For anyone not familiar, they are a little pub with good German and other bar food, and a good tap and bottle selection of local and German beers. They’ll provide happy hour pricing for us all evening.

There are a couple of pool tables as well as bar trivia (anyone up for a contest?) and Golden Tee. And for anyone interested, we can make this a mini pub-crawl, as Legacy Brewing and the Tap That tap room are a few blocks away.

The event starts at 6PM, and we hope to see lots of you there.

Event: Churchills Pub Night

Continuing our effort to host more events outside of meetings, we are putting together a SBE pub night at Churchills Pub in San Marcos. The event will be on Tuesday 7/8 at 6:30pm. We will have an area of tables reserved for our group. This will be a great chance to socialize with other members and enjoy the great selection of beer and food at Churchills.

Event: Bicycle Tour de Vista

The Society of Barley Engineers is planning a biking tour of breweries in Vista for Sunday Febrewary 23rd starting at 1pm. The plan is to visit 8 breweries that are spaced 2-12 minutes apart by bike. This is not a drinking tour with bikes, but a biking tour with beer samples, so safety and moderation are paramount. The tour is approximately 10 miles (although there are some shortcuts if you are so inclined) with approximately 1 hour biking time. We will start with a taster at Indian Joe brewery in Vista at 1pm, after which we will bike to Mother Earth (Thibodo), Booze Brothers, Barrel Harbor, Latitude 33, Belching Beaver, Iron Fist and conclude at Aztec.

There are some moderate hills, so bikes with gears are recommended.
