SBE November Meeting Announcement

Hello Barley Engineers,
We are really excited about this Wednesday’s meeting on 11/13. As might notice, this is a week later than usual, due to beer week. We have obtained several of the Siebel institute kits for preparing doctored beers for flavor evaluation. This will be a fun and very informative event. Participating in events like this can usually be very pricey, and is a perk of SBE membership. As a double perk, several of the officers and senior club members are pretty experienced at making this kind of event very successful.

Our agenda will be limited to just the tasting, and officer elections. It is not to late to run for office. Campaigning can consist of an e-mail to the current officers and members, or just show up at the meeting and say you are interested.

We will still be passing homebrews around, so please still bring beer to share. We will need some pleasant beer to keep us going through all the docotored beer.

The Group meal will be Pesto with Chicken and Tomato. As always, $!3 includes tax and tip.
6:30pm at Stone World Bistro.

SBE January Meeting Announcement

Our first meeting in 2013 will be Wednesday January 2nd at the Stone World Bistro at 6:30pm.  This month we will be trying a new format that was suggested by a member last month – Movie Night!

For the main event we will be viewing the documentary How Beer Saved the World, and will likely end up doing a bit of a Rifftrax impression in the process.  In addition to the movie, we will go over the schedule for the year.

I do not believe we will be participating in the January AHA Club-Only competition, “Un-Session Beers,” which is essentially any beer with an OG greater than 1.040. If you have a beer that you really want to put forward for this, please contact the officers@societyofbarleyengineers.org, otherwise, there are currently no plans for a judging, and the entries are due on the 11th.  The next competition is for Barleywines, with entries due on March 1st, so we will be announcing competition details for the February meeting.

We will, of course, be sharing Homebrew!

Please fill out the RSVP form that will come in a separate e-mail, or access it by clicking here… https://docs.google.com/a/societyofbarleyengineers.org/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0An_TkHiy92madEQ1SVRuMUxjY0M5SWFleWRKZmdZc2c

If you haven’t already paid dues for 2013, please bring $25.
We haven’t set a menu item yet for the group meal, but, as always, it will $13 which includes tax and tip.

SBE December Meeting Announcement

The final meeting of 2012 is upon us. We are scheduled to have a critical review of some homebrews as the main event. Last meeting, we went over the judging process and the BJCP guidelines, so, this week we will try it out. If you have a homebrew that you would like to volunteer for the exercise, Please indicate that on the RSVP form.

We will have judging forms and will go through the process of judging 2 or 3 beers, just as would happen in a competition.

Also, we will be confirming Officers for the next year. I will send a separate e-mail regarding that.
Finally, we will be collecting ideas for meeting topics for 2013.

The Shared Entree will be Penne with Chicken and tomatoes. Please indicate on the RSVP form if you will be participating. As always, it is $13 including tax and tip.
