SBE May Meeting Announcement

The May meeting of the Society of Barley Engineers will be held on Wednesday May 6th @ 6pm at Feliccia’s Italian Restaurant in Vista (1011 S Santa Fe Ave.). We will feature a discussion on Indigenous Beers led by Chris Rosemeyer. We will have a pasta dinner arranged for $10/person (includes tax and tip). Commercial beer options are limited, but we will be able to share our homebrew and commercial examples of Indigenous Beer.

SBE April Meeting – Advance Notice

SBE Members,
We are sending out an early notice for the April meeting since both the day and location of our meeting is changing. Please mark this on your calendars:

The April meeting of the Society of Barley Engineers homebrew club will be held on Tuesday April 7th @ 6pm at Booze Brothers Brewing Company in Vista. We will feature guest speaker, Kelsey McNair who will speak on “Mastering the Art of Hop-Fu!”. Kelsey is a self-proclaimed hop-head that that has won three NHC gold medals for his Hop-Fu! IPA and also won the 2010 Stone AHA rally competition which provided us with the Kelsey McNair/Stone Brewing/Ballast Point Session IPA. This presentation will be a precursor to his presentation at the National Homebrew Conference.

Booze Brothers beer will be available and we will have catered food from Feliccia’s Italian Restaurant. We will be sending out an RSVP announcement a few days before the event which will have more details.

SBE March Meeting Announcement

The March meeting of the Society of Barley Engineers homebrew club will be held on Wednesday March 4th @ 6pm at the Stone Brewing World Bistro in Escondido. The focus topic, Fermentation Temperature Control, will be led by Dan Kutcher & Jacques Guilloton. Please try to bring shared beer in one container as we are paying a fee by container to allow homebrew to be served. Food will be available upstairs for a 15% discount off of the menu pricing.

SBE Febrewary Meeting Announcement

The Febrewary meeting of the Society of Barley Engineers homebrew club will be held on Wednesday Febrewary 4th @ 6pm at the Stone Brewing World Bistro in Escondido. The focus topic, Barley Wines, will be led by Lynne Noella. We had a number of logistical problems at the last meeting and are working on solving these. Consequently we are planning on having a dedicated server upstairs that would allow us to order and consume food during the meeting. Unfortunately, the discount on the food will only be 15%.

SBE January Meeting Announcement

Note: this month’s meeting is on January 21 and not the regular first Wednesday of the month.

The January meeting of the Society of Barley Engineers homebrew club will be held on Wednesday January 21st @ 6pm at the Stone Brewing World Bistro in Escondido. The focus topic, Hangover Cures, will be led by Justin Reilly. Going forward, we have abandoned the group meal in favor of a 25% discount off of food before or after the meeting. We also won’t have a dedicated server upstairs, so food must be ordered downstairs. Stone indicated that they would prefer food be consumed downstairs, but wouldn’t squawk if we bring food upstairs.

SBE December Meeting Announcement

This meeting will be a special show & tell meeting focused on homebrew gadgets. Inspector Gadget (Lauren) will be moderating the discussion, but the format will be show & tell where we can learn from each other. The group meal will be Mac n’ Beer Cheese.
